One of the biggest street festivals takes place in Cologne every year. The carnival officially begins at 11 minutes past 11 a.m. on November 11th and continues until Ash Wednesday. The festival is celebrated by hundreds and thousands of people. On the Thursday before Ash Wednesday there is approximately a million people celebrating in the streets. A festival this size is a definite must see!
There are also many landmarks located around the city. Cologne Cathedral is the city’s most famous and most respected landmark. It is a Gothic church which took 628 years until the construction was finished.
When the sun goes down Cologne gets its second wind. Bars and pubs are popular but if your tastes run deeper be sure to check out the exciting top class nightclubs in the area.
Rheinpark. This fascinating zoological park is located at the north end of Rheinpark. It is hometo more than 5,000 animals of various species.
